Festival by the Lake
Held alongside the southeastern shoreline of beautiful Lake Quannapowitt, Wakefield’s Festival by the Lake takes place the second Saturday of every June. This festival has been going on for more than 25 years and has become a beloved annual tradition in the area.
Locals and out of town visitors alike come to enjoy an array of local crafters, artists, live music and great food vendors at this community event each year!
The festival also features a number booths for local non-profit organizations, providing a great opportunity for attendees to get to know the groups and resources available in the community. You’ll also find children’s activities to keep the kiddos occupied, including face painting, a playground, games and rides. This is definitely an event to check out if you’re in town!
Wakefield Farmers Market
The Wakefield Farmers Market isn’t just any old farmers market! There’s something for everyone to enjoy here, even if you aren’t a fan of fruits and vegetables.
The market is held every Saturday mid-June to mid-October from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Stop by for some freshly-picked fruits and vegetables, plus meats, eggs, poultry, cheese, artisan products and other locally produced specialty foods.
In addition to delicious local produce, you’ll also find entertainment for all ages at the farmers market! As you wander through, you’ll enjoy live music by some of our favorite local musicians, plus see cooking demonstrations from local chefs making delicious dishes out of our local produce.
Bringing the kids? Great! Our farmers market is family-friendly and features a kids activity tent with hula hoops, jump-ropes, sidewalk chalk, and more!
The Annual Italian Festival
Join the fun as we celebrate Wakefield’s Italian culture and tradition at Festival Italia!
Each year, on a Saturday in August, downtown Wakefield turns into Little Italy. Italian food, street vendors, music, entertainment, La Piazza’s beer and wine tent, shopping, and a host of children’s activities highlight the event. Many of Wakefield’s local merchants participate in this street-fair style festival.
Wakefield Fourth of July Parade
The Wakefield Fourth of July parade is the largest in MA, the 2nd largest in New England, and the 5th largest in the US!
More than 75,000 spectators gather along the parade route every year, which travels through our historic community and along Lake Quannapowitt.
The parade takes place on July 4th at 5:00 p.m and begins right here at The Lakeside Office Park. It then travels down North Avenue turning left on to Church Street then right on to Common Street and straight through to Main Street.
