5 Ways to Revamp Your Work Life

Updated: Jul 13, 2023

The changing of seasons, the turning of a calendar page, the start of a new year – all of these things can bring with them a craving for change.

With most of us spending close to a third of our lives at work, making an adjustment to our work life can be a great way to satisfy that craving.

Refresh Your Day to Day Work Life

While you may not be ready or willing to make a career change and the time may not be right to change jobs, there are various adjustments you can make within your existing occupation and role that can leave you feeling refreshed.

Here are just a few suggestions for how you can revamp your work life this year.

Change Up Your Routine

Routines are hugely important in our lives as humans, but they can also get stale over time. One great way to revamp your work life is to revamp your daily routine.

You can make a substantial change by completely overhauling your daily schedule, or a more subtle one by making some smaller tweaks.

Some options to consider include:

  • Try out a new workout routine (For those in the Wakefield area, here are some local gyms to check out before or after work.)

  • Work some new forms of self care into your daily routine

  • Wake up earlier

  • Disconnect from your phone and social media 30 minutes before bed

  • Start a new hobby

  • Only check email periodically throughout the day, during certain established timeframes

You may find that a subtle tweak to your routine can change the whole feel of your day. Don’t be afraid to try out some options to see what works!

Update Your Workspace

In addition to updating your daily routine and how you work, changing where you work can be a great way to revamp your work life in the new year.

Whether you work in an office or you work from home, you spend a lot of time in your workspace. According to this Orlando property management company it’s worth taking a look to see where you can make some simple upgrades, and figure out if there are certain aspects of your space that could be working better for you.

Looking for some inspiration for updating your workspace? Here are a few ideas:

  • Rearrange the layout of your workspace

  • Add some new decor

  • Bring in some greenery

  • Invest in an ergonomic desk set-up

  • Declutter

  • Upgrade your equipment

Clean Up

Speaking of updating your workspace, a quick (or in-depth) cleaning can make a world of difference. Even if you don’t have the budget for new decor, cleaning and reorganizing your existing office layout can change the whole feel and give your work life a whole new vibe.

Cleaning and getting rid of things can open up opportunities for reorganizing and might even encourage you to try your office in a new layout. Plus, you’ll find that an overall clean-up can leave you feeling more inspired and refreshed when you sit down to work each day.

Upgrade Your Commute

If you’re back to commuting to the office (or you will eventually be returning to the office post-COVID), you may not be feeling terribly excited about having to travel to and from work every day. This is likely especially true if you enjoyed the perks of working from home.

That being said, there are a number of easy ways you can improve your commute. Some suggestions for small changes that can make a big impact when it comes to transforming your daily trip to work include:

  • Listen to a new podcast

  • Listen to an audiobook

  • Take a new route

  • Treat yourself to a coffee or breakfast sandwich once in a while on your way in
